TS Marketplace: SW1 Switcher Scenario Pack 01
Switching duties – making up trains in yards, delivering and picking up loads and empties from lineside shippers – were among the most challenging tasks a railroad engineer and crew could tackle. SW1 Scenario Pack 01, from High Iron Simulations, now delivers those challenges in ten career scenarios as you work aboard the legendary Electro-Motive SW1 diesel switcher!
Featured in this scenario pack is the diminutive, 600-horsepower SW1 diesel switcher that was among the earliest successful diesel locomotives when introduced in 1938 – and which would become a familiar staple of North American railroading for more than a half-century!
With SW1 Scenario Pack 01, you’ll be called for switching work aboard the SW1 from New England to Montana, and from the Allegheny Mountains to California, to serve lineside shippers, handle yard switching, and provide important local services.
Created for Train Simulator Classic by accomplished developer Reppo, the SW1 was the first Electro-Motive switcher to employ the builder’s successful 567-series diesel. More than 80 companies, ranging from railroading giants to short lines to industries, were original buyers of the SW1 and more than 660 examples of the SW1 were constructed from 1938 through 1953.
In the ten realistic career scenarios of SW1 Scenario Pack 01, you will:
Journey to the rugged Allegheny Mountains of West Virginia and Maryland to work on the acclaimed B&O Mountain Subdivision route. Aboard Baltimore & Ohio EMD SW1s, you’ll handle heavy coal loads at M&K Junction and Tunnelton, and shuffle steel-laden gondolas at Cumberland’s William Street Yard.
Be called for service on the Boston & Albany (B&A) route of the famed New York Central. Working at Springfield and Framingham (Massachusetts), you’ll tackle the challenges of delivering and picking up freight cars for a variety of lineside shippers as well as perform yard duties.
In the “Big Sky Country” of Montana, step aboard veteran Burlington Northern SW1s working on the ex-Northern Pacific Bozeman Pass route. At the massive Trident Cement plant, you’ll spot and pick up cars at the sprawling plant, while at Belgrade you will work the town’s multiple shipper sidings switching loads of lumber products and grain.
Take the throttle of flashy Western Pacific SW1s on the remarkable Feather River Canyon Enhanced route. At Oroville and Portola (California), you will switch in the WP yards and make numerous shipper pick-ups and set-outs. And on the Quincy Railroad short line, your WP SW1 will stand in for Quincy RR power, handling the town’s lumber customers and making the run to the Western Pacific interchange at Quincy Junction.
Note: For full use, this scenario pack requires Train Simulator Classic and the following DLC: SW1 Switcher Add-On; B&O Mountain Subdivision: Cumberland - Grafton Route; B&O Mountain Subdivision Retro Pack; Boston & Albany: Boston - Springfield Route; Bozeman Pass: Livingston - Three Forks & Trident Route; and Feather River Canyon Enhanced: Oroville - Portola Route.
